20th August 2015. Thinking of you all today in the pub at Wotton, Ding-Dongs (yes really!) and diet coke are no substitute for an English pub lunch........Yesterday we got the weather Pete was expecting last week - rain, thunder storms followed by the apocalypse. Flash flooding all down the east coast of the USA and we ended up sheltering for up to three hours, firstly in a car wash and then under the awning outside Valley Denture Care! Typically it started when we were only about 7 miles from the end, but riding in traffic would have been suicidal. Today the rain started about 5 mins after we checked in to the motel and my back tyre went flat 5 minutes after that, so a good day.
19th August 2015. Loaded up and heading for the hills! Over 8,000 ft of ascent in the two days following this picture as we rode the Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. Now down in the valley - 96 degrees Farenheit yesterday. About to fix the first (slow) puncture and do some laundry - the joys of cycle touring.
